Day services

 

Day Services at Unity Developmental Disabilities Care Center (UDDCC) provide structured, meaningful, and person-centered daytime support for individuals with developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and youth transitioning into adulthood. Our program is designed to build skills, promote independence, and create opportunities for community participation in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment.

Day Services are not simply supervision—they are daily skill-building and enrichment programs focused on helping each person grow socially, emotionally, and functionally.

Day Services include:


Skill Development


  • Daily living skills (hygiene routines, meal prep, cleaning, organization)
     
  • Communication skills (expressing needs, social interaction)
     
  • Emotional regulation and coping strategies
     
  • Problem-solving and decision making
     
  • Money management basics
     

Community Integration


  • Outings to parks, libraries, museums, stores, and events
     
  • Practicing community safety and navigation
     
  • Building natural relationships and social connections
     
  • Volunteering and community engagement
     

Recreational & Enrichment Activities


  • Arts and crafts
     
  • Sensory-friendly activities
     
  • Games, music, and movement
     
  • Gardening, fitness, and outdoor activities
     
  • Skill stations and structured learning groups
     

Therapeutic & Behavioral Support


  • Trauma-informed care practices
     
  • Routine building and behavior support strategies
     
  • Sensory and calming activities for regulation
     

Health & Safety Support


  • Medication assistance (per training and RN protocols)
     
  • Supervision and safety monitoring
     
  • Transportation to and from the center, if needed
     

Staff Training & Program Quality


UDDCC Day Services staff are trained in:

  • Mandt system (behavior prevention & crisis support)
     
  • CPR/First Aid
     
  • Abuse & neglect prevention
     
  • Documentation & ISP goal tracking
     
  • Trauma-informed care
