Supported Employment Services

 

Supported Employment at Unity Developmental Disabilities Care Center (UDDCC) helps individuals with developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injuries (TBI) gain and maintain meaningful, competitive employment in the community. Our program is designed to build confidence, develop job skills, and support long-term success in the workplace.

We work closely with individuals, families, employers, and service coordinators to ensure each person receives the level of support they need to thrive on the job.

Supported Employment Services include:


1. Job Exploration & Career Planning

  • Identifying interests, strengths, and work preferences
     
  • Assessing skills and support needs
     
  • Creating individualized employment goals
     
  • Developing a person-centered employment plan
     

2. Job Development


  • Assisting individuals in searching for jobs
     
  • Helping complete applications and prepare resumes
     
  • Practicing interview skills
     
  • Connecting with local employers
     
  • Advocating for inclusive hiring practices
     

3. On-the-Job Training & Coaching

  • Providing on-site assistance during orientation and training
     
  • Helping individuals learn job duties and routines
     
  • Teaching workplace expectations, communication, and safety
     
  • Fading support over time as independence increases
     

4. Ongoing Employment Support


  • Periodic check-ins with employer and employee
     
  • Problem-solving workplace challenges
     
  • Retraining if job duties change
     
  • Ensuring long-term job stability and satisfaction
     

5. Transportation Support

  • Coordinating or providing rides to work when available
