Foster Care Services

Unity Developmental Disabilities Care Center (UDDCC) provides safe, stable, and nurturing homes for children and youth in foster care, including those with developmental disabilities, behavioral needs, or traumatic backgrounds. Our goal is to promote healing, safety, permanency, and growth through compassionate, trauma-informed care.

We offer two levels of foster care support:

1. Foster Family Homes

UDDCC recruits, trains, and supports foster parents who open their homes to children in need of a safe and loving environment. Foster parents receive:

  • Comprehensive training (including TIPS-MAPP, Mandt, CPR/First Aid, Trauma-Informed Care)

  • 24/7 agency support and crisis response

  • Ongoing home visits and case management

  • Assistance with school, medical, behavioral, and developmental needs

  • Resources and coaching to help foster children thrive

2. Group Home Foster Care

For youth who need a higher level of structure or support, UDDCC operates small, family-style Group Homes staffed by trained caregivers. These homes provide:

  • A safe, stable, and supervised living environment

  • Trauma-informed behavioral supports

  • Life skills training (cooking, hygiene, chores, budgeting, communication)

  • Medication support from licensed nursing staff

  • Educational guidance and transportation

  • Family therapy coordination and reunification support when appropriate

Group homes are designed to feel like a home—not an institution—where youth can build trust, develop healthy routines, and work toward permanency goals.

Our Commitment

Across all foster care settings, UDDCC is committed to:

  • Protecting children from harm

  • Supporting emotional and developmental growth

  • Ensuring cultural respect, dignity, and belonging

  • Preparing youth for reunification, adoption, or independent living

  • Working closely with DHHS, schools, therapists, and families
