Respite Care Services

Respite Care at Unity Developmental Disabilities Care Center (UDDCC) provides temporary, reliable relief for families and caregivers who support individuals with developmental disabilities, TBI, or children in foster care. Our goal is to give caregivers the time they need to rest, recharge, attend to personal responsibilities, or manage emergencies—while ensuring their loved one remains safe, supported, and engaged.

Respite services can be provided:

• In the individual’s home
   
• In the respite provider’s home
   
• In the community
   
• During day, evening, overnight, or weekend hours
   

During respite, trained UDDCC caregivers provide:

• Supervision and safety monitoring
   
• Support with daily living skills
   
• Medication assistance (per training and protocols)
   
• Meal preparation and feeding support
   
• Assistance with hygiene and personal care
   
• Community outings, activities, and enrichment
   
• Structured routines based on the individual’s needs
   
• Positive behavioral supports
   

UDDCC ensures all respite providers receive:

• Training in CPR/First Aid, Mandt, abuse/neglect prevention, and documentation
   
• Guidance on ISP goals and person-centered support
   
• Ongoing supervision and quality assurance
   
• Support from our Program Director, RN, and DSP coordinators
   
• 24/7 on-call support for emergencies
   

Respite Care helps prevent caregiver burnout, strengthens family stability, and provides individuals with new experiences, social opportunities, and continuity of care. With UDDCC, families can feel confident knowing their loved one is in safe and compassionate hands.
